What is the Paleo Diet?

The Paleo diet is a healthy eating lifestyle that requires restricting processed foods, added sugars, wheat and grains, and dairy products. Instead, it focuses on meat, fish, fruits, veggies, and other foods in whole food form.

Here are a few Paleo facts:

  • If there is sugar in a product, it is not Paleo.
  • Many people mistakenly lump peanuts together with pecans, almonds, etc. They are, in fact, different. A peanut is a legume, which should be avoided on Paleo. On the other hand, a tree nut may be a nut like a Brazil nut, pecan, cashew, or almond. Tree nuts are acceptable on Paleo.
  • In its proper form, Paleo means eating gluten-free foods.
  • Experts would say that Paleo is not a fad or a trend but is rooted in science, research, and data.
